Is Germany a Christian Nation?

The following paragraph comes from this article…

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/oct/26/martin-luthers-reformation-anniversary-stirs-germa/

“Many Germans embraced the newcomers, but others in the nation’s economically weak, culturally homogenous East feared the influx of Muslims would strike at the heart of the German identity. It was a paradox: Many feared a too-Christian attitude toward the stranger and the refugee could put into question Germany’s very identity as a Christian nation.”

The liberals at the Washington Times have come close to hitting the nail on the head for once.  The actual paradox is the term, “Christian nation”.

Might as well say a “saved lost person” or “a round square.”  Christianity and nations are not compatible, at least the Christianity of the New Testament.  We know that the Roman Catholic Church is not a New Testament Church and they have plenty of dealings with nations, aka “fornication” in Rev 17. But not any church that is following the commands of the New Testament.

There are rules in the New Testament that command our submission to government (Rom 13, 1 Pet 2) but nothing about what we are to do when WE are in government.  WHY? Because that is not the realm of Christians.  We would not be able to follow the commands of Christ and maintain a stable government in his name.  THAT is the paradox.

One time Pontius Pilate, the governor of Judea, got into a political discussion with Jesus Christ himself (We are to be “Christ”ians are we not???).  This is recorded in John 18.

Verse 36 says, “Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

We know the word, “NOW” is important because his kingdom will come in the future.  It did not come with the Protestant Reformation or the inauguration of old Trumpy.  Paul was so busy fighting with the powers that are way over the Donald’s head (Eph 6) that he had to remind his followers to not forget to pray “for them that are in authority.” (I Tim 2:2)  The prayer is not “that Christians would get involved in Politics through Capital Connections.” or that we would rebel against taxation without representation in order to set up a New Israel so that we could preach the Gospel….. blah, blah, blah…

This issue of immigration is a good litmus test for Christians to see if they are Bible Believing Christians or just “Patriots for ‘Murica” who happen to have some correct doctrine.  Here comes an illegal immigrant.  He is from a Muslim or a Communist country where the open witness of the Gospel is illegal and this law is strictly enforced.  A Christian wants that man to be saved just like God does.  Where will he have a better chance of getting saved?  America or Afghanistan or Libya?  Obviously, he has a better chance of getting saved or at least hearing the Gospel in America.  So to a Bible Believer, the choice is clear: let them come to America and open the borders.  There is no doubt, that is the Christian thing to do.

But open borders are a horrible idea for a nation, whose first job is to protect itself and it’s people.  According to the Preamble to the US Constitution, government’s job is to “form a more perfect union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquillity, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.”

Let us go point by point:

“Form a more perfect union” – Letting in Muslims will destroy that.

“Establish Justice” – Muslims will destroy that.

“Insure domestic Tranquillity” – Muslims will definitely destroy that.

“Provide for the common defence” – Tough to do when you might be letting in the enemy.

“Promote the general Welfare” – Tough to do when you are letting in a foreign religion that has different views on general welfare.

“Secure the blessings of liberty” – Can’t let in a people that doesn’t believe in liberty.

So we see that letting in immigrants from the Middle East en masse would be a death blow to our nation.  But as a Christian, we ought to pray that more and more of them would come to this place where they have a far greater chance of getting saved.

The question of the day is this: are you a Bible Believer or an American?  Sometimes, you can’t be both and on the issue of immigration, you cannot be both.

I say, LET THEM IN AND PREACH TO THEM.
